Mosquitoes are important vectors of diseases, besides their disease carrying abilities, biting mosquitoes can be terribly annoying to people working, camping or relaxing outdoors.

This is the carpenter ant found very often in lawns and homes. Since they have the habit of excavating food, they are given the name carpenter ants. These are some of the larger sized ants ranging from 6-10mm.

This is the southern fire ant found in the gulf coast region. They get the name fire ant because of their fiery sting.

The cockroach is a nocturnal insect that has been around for about 320 million years.

The brown recluse is a very common spider found here in Texas known for its vicious bites.

Tics are external parasites known to carry lime disease. They feed on blood of mammal, birds, reptiles and some amphibians.

Silver fish are among the most common insects in the home. They are a major concern because they eat paper, fabric and get into cereal.

This is a popping beetle. It is known for its distinct sound. These beetles can be extremely dangerous because they are known to crawl into human ears.

The house mice are extremely prolific breeders. At 35 days of age, they mature and carry for 18 to 21 days. If a mouse aborts, it can become pregnant in 48 hours.

This is a dragon Fly. They hang around lakes and eat mosquitoes. They are actually good to be around.

The rat can be sexually mature in 4 months and continues to grow till its 18 months old. Rats can breed every month of the year and their litter varies from 6 to 22.

Fossilized remains of termites have been found in formation some 55 million years old. Day in and Day out their diet has consisted solely of wood and other cellulose materials.

This is a swarmer termite and they make new termite colonies.
